Job summary

aFit Staffing is seeking a Behavioral Health Attendant to support a State-operated inpatient psychiatric hospital in Logansport, Indiana. You will provide direct patient support, assist with daily living activities, and contribute to a structured treatment environment.

Responsibilities include observing and documenting patient progress, delivering psycho-social support, and collaborating with an interdisciplinary team. This is a 13-week contract with on-site duties on a shift-based schedule.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• Experience with scheduling, filing, notes, and supplies.
• HIPAA confidentiality knowledge required.
• CPR/First Aid certification highly desired.
• Indiana Medical Aide Certification highly desired.
• CPI/de-escalation certification highly desired.
• Experience in behavioral health or related settings desirable.

Responsibilities

• Support patient recovery and treatment plan goals through daily interaction and engagement.
• Assist in implementing patient treatment plans.
• Monitor patients during meals, activities, and interactions.
• Observe, document, and report patient condition and behavior.
• Provide motivation, coaching, and daily living skills instruction.
• Advise patients on appropriate social behavior.
• Support community living skills development through structured activities.
• Assist with occupational and recreational therapy programming.
• Help maintain a safe, therapeutic environment for patients, staff, and visitors.
• Utilize approved de-escalation and behavior management techniques.
• Assist in managing aggressive patient behavior when necessary.
• Escort patients to appointments and activities on and off campus.
• Perform basic first aid and emergency procedures when required.
