Job summary

aFit Staffing is seeking a Behavioral Health Attendant to support a state-operated inpatient psychiatric hospital in Logansport, Indiana. The role focuses on patient care, safety, and therapeutic support in a structured healthcare setting, collaborating with an interdisciplinary team.

The position requires strong communication, professionalism, and the ability to manage challenging behaviors using approved de-escalation techniques, with shifts totaling 37.5 hours per week and on-site work.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent is required.
• Experience with scheduling, filing, progress notes, supply ordering, and phone coverage is required.
• Knowledge of HIPAA regulations and patient confidentiality.
• CPR/First Aid Certification is required or Highly Desired.
• Indiana Medical Aide Certification is Highly Desired.
• CPI or similar de-escalation certification is Highly Desired.
• Experience in behavioral health, residential treatment, or corrections-adjacent settings is Highly Desired.

Responsibilities

• Support patient care and treatment plan goals through daily interaction and engagement.
• Monitor patients during meals, activities, classroom sessions, and common-area interactions.
• Observe, document, and report patient condition and behavior.
• Provide motivation, coaching, counseling, and daily living skills instruction.
• Advise patients regarding appropriate social behavior.
• Support community living skills development through structured activities.
• Assist with occupational and recreational therapy programming.
