Job summary

Ascent Behavioral Hospital in Utah is seeking a Mental Health Technician (MHT) to join the inpatient treatment team, providing direct supervision and therapeutic support to adolescents in a structured, trauma-informed milieu.

The role involves constant patient observation, assisting with ADLs, leading psychoeducational groups, and employing de-escalation techniques to keep patients and staff safe; CPR/First Aid certification and background checks are required.

Qualifications

• Experience: Demonstrated ability to manage stressful situations with professionalism, empathy, and strong boundaries.
• Certifications: Current CPR and First Aid certification (or ability to obtain upon hire).
• Regulatory: Must pass a federal and Utah Department of Health & Human Services background check and drug screening.

Responsibilities

• Maintain constant visual observation of patients and conduct safety checks.
• Facilitate structured therapeutic milieu and psychoeducational groups.
• Utilize crisis intervention techniques to manage escalating behaviors.
• Document patient behavior and responses in the EMR.
• Assist with ADLs and promote dignity and hygiene.
• Communicate changes in patient status to RN or Charge Nurse.
• Maintain patient confidentiality and HIPAA compliance.
