Job summary

University of Utah Health seeks a Psychiatric Technician to support behavioral health patients in a Safe, therapeutic environment on-site in Salt Lake City. The role collaborates with nurses and therapists to admit, orient, and monitor patients, and to lead therapeutic activities.

The position emphasizes flexibility, adherence to policies, and participation in interdisciplinary care planning to improve patient outcomes. This is a full-time on-site role within HMHI Youth programs.

Qualifications

• Minimum six months of behavioral health or direct patient care experience.
• Current RQI Healthcare Provider eCredential within 30 days of hire.
• Ability to meet the schedule and work location requirements.

Responsibilities

• Assists with maintaining a safe and hazard-free environment and documents patient behavior.
• Gathers routine information for nursing assessment during admission of new patients.
• Orients patients and families to facility policies and procedures.
• Escort patients to off-unit appointments and activities using therapeutic interventions.
• Encourages participation in recreational activities and group therapies.
• Leads activity and conversation groups to support therapeutic milieu.
• Participates in treatment planning and discharge planning with the care team.
