Job summary

Haven Behavioral Healthcare, part of the Oceans Healthcare family, seeks an Activity Therapist to provide therapeutic group and individual interventions using art, music, or occupational therapy within a multidisciplinary inpatient setting.

The role emphasizes assessment-driven individualized plans, engaging activities, and rigorous documentation to support recovery for patients with mental health and substance use concerns.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Music Therapy, Art Therapy, Occupational Therapy, or related field; Master’s degree preferred.
• Master’s degree or LMSW license required.
• Three years of inpatient acute care clinical experience preferred.
• Must maintain current certification/licensure for discipline.
• BLS certification and Oceans-approved de-escalation training required.

Responsibilities

• Conduct assessments to determine patients’ emotional, cognitive, and social needs and develop individualized therapy plans.
• Lead and facilitate therapeutic groups and individual sessions using art-, music-, or occupational-therapy modalities.
• Create a supportive, safe, and engaging environment to promote participation.
• Evaluate patient participation and progress and document services per policy.
• Encourage patients to participate in activities supporting emotional expression and skill development.
• Collaborate with the multidisciplinary treatment team to implement treatment plans and communicate changes.
• Seek supervision or clinical support when challenges arise in sessions.
• Maintain accurate, timely documentation including assessments and treatment plan updates.
• Performs other duties as assigned.
