Job summary

CAPITOL REGION EDUCATION COUNCIL is seeking an innovative and team-oriented part-time tutor for Montessori Magnet School in Hartford, CT. The role focuses on math and literacy with a 19.5-hour schedule, working under the supervision of a certified staff member.

The tutor will reinforce academic skills, utilize appropriate materials and technology, and maintain records of student progress while fostering a positive learning environment for diverse learners.

Qualifications

• AA degree or equivalent from two-year college or technical school, or six months to one year related experience
• Experience or training in tutoring/education settings preferred
• Ability to use technology to support learning (Google Suite, MS Office)

Responsibilities

• Assist and guide students to reinforce academic skills.
• Use appropriate materials to support teaching, including technology.
• Provide an effective learning environment with well-prepared lessons and progress records.
• Monitor and assess student performance and progress through lessons and assessments.
• Communicate effectively with a diverse student population.
• Promote a positive, safe classroom environment for individualized and small-group instruction.
• Manage classroom procedures such as daily schedules, attendance, and transitions.
• Other duties as assigned.
