Job summary

Waco ISD is seeking a Teacher for Middle School/Theater Arts to provide engaging learning experiences and drive student growth in core subjects. The role reports to the principal on an assigned campus.

The position requires a Bachelor’s degree, a valid Texas teaching certificate, and demonstrated subject competency. Expect collaboration with special education staff and ongoing professional development.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree from an accredited university.
• Valid Texas teaching certificate with required endorsements or required training for subject and level assigned.
• Demonstrated competency in the core academic subject area assigned.

Responsibilities

• Develop and implement lesson plans that fulfill the district curriculum requirements and show written evidence of preparation.
• Prepare lessons that reflect accommodations for differences in student learning styles.
• Present subject matter according to guidelines established by TEA, board policies, and admin regulations.
• Plan and use instructional strategies and materials tailored to student needs and learning styles.
• Conduct assessment of student learning styles and use results to plan instruction.
• Collaborate with special education teachers to modify curricula per IEP guidelines.
• Work with staff to determine instructional goals and methods per district requirements.
• Plan and supervise assignments for teacher aides and volunteers.
• Utilize technology to strengthen teaching and learning processes.
• Assist students in improving study methods and habits.
• Conduct ongoing assessment of student achievement via formal and informal testing.
• Assume responsibility for extracurricular activities as assigned by campus principal.
• Be a positive role model and support the school district’s mission.
• Create a classroom environment conducive to learning and suitable for student development.
• Manage student behavior per the Student Code of Conduct and handbook.
• Take precautions to protect students, equipment, and materials.
• Assist in selecting books, equipment, and instructional materials.
• Establish and maintain open communication with parents, students, principals, and teachers.
• Maintain professional relationships with colleagues, students, parents, and community members.
• Use effective communication to present information clearly and accurately.
• Participate in staff development activities to improve job-related skills.
• Keep informed of state, district, and school regulations for teachers.
• Compile and file reports and records as required.
• Attend faculty meetings and serve on staff committees as required.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
