Job summary

Excelsior is seeking an instructional leader to oversee the educational program in a charter school setting. You will align curriculum, instruction, and assessment to maximize student achievement and foster a safe, respectful climate.

You will collaborate with staff, parents, and the community to drive continuous improvement, develop strategic plans, and ensure high standards for diverse learners. Strong communication and leadership are essential.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree or higher and state teaching certification required.
• 2-year minimum experience teaching at the K-12 level.
• Math Endorsement K-12 or 6-12 is required or preferred.
• Understanding of child development principles and best practices in education.

Responsibilities

• Understands central concepts, tools of inquiry, and structure of the discipline taught and makes the subject matter meaningful to students.
• Develops a climate and culture of openness, fairness, mutual respect, support and inquiry.
• Engages every student in grade level appropriate learning experiences that promote performance.
• Demonstrates respect for students, colleagues, administrators, and parents.
• Provides professional leadership to establish a culture conducive to learning and student diversity, involves students in mission/goals development, and uses data for continual improvement.
• Develops and implements a strategic planning system including course, unit, and lesson plans.
• Provides opportunities for students to demonstrate progress toward graduation.
