Job summary

Medela LLC in McHenry, IL is seeking a hands-on Mechanical Engineer to drive design, prototyping and production of medical devices. You will create 3D CAD models, prepare specs, and work across teams to ensure quality and manufacturability.

Ideal candidates have 4+ years in mechanical design, GD&T proficiency and experience taking concepts from prototype through to manufacturing in regulated environments. Hybrid schedule applies here.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or related field.
• 4+ years of professional engineering experience.
• Hands-on mechanical design, materials, analysis and manufacturing.
• At least 2 years of CAD experience using Creo, SolidWorks, Siemens NX or comparable toolset.
• Working knowledge of GD&T.
• Experience translating designs into manufacturable products.
• Strong problem-solving and ability to manage multiple projects.
• Excellent verbal and written communication.

Responsibilities

• Design, develop and improve mechanical components and assemblies for medical devices.
• Generate design concepts via brainstorming, research and competitive analysis.
• Develop prototypes, evaluate options and iterate designs.
• Create 3D CAD models, drawings and specifications.
• Apply GD&T to support manufacturable designs.
• Evaluate materials and processes balancing performance, cost and timelines.
• Design and support plastic components with manufacturing teams and suppliers.
• Support prototype testing and verification/validation activities.
• Prepare and maintain engineering documentation per quality/regulatory requirements.
• Collaborate with Quality, Regulatory and Operations teams.
