Job summary

Medline is seeking a Senior Design Engineer to lead complex medical device design initiatives in a hybrid Northfield, IL role. You will design, prototype, and document components meeting regulatory requirements, while mentoring junior engineers and guiding cross-functional teams to successful product launches.

Responsibilities include design transfer to manufacturing, risk management, and contributing to IP strategy.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in mechanical, biomedical, electrical engineering, or related technical field.
• 4+ years of product design experience in a regulated environment (medical devices preferred).
• SolidWorks proficiency with design for manufacturability and prototype development.

Responsibilities

• Lead complex product design initiatives within cross-functional teams.
• Develop CAD models, prototypes, and design documentation meeting inputs and standards.
• Collaborate with product, regulatory, clinical, and quality teams to define user needs.
• Drive design transfer to manufacturing with validation builds and process development.
• Support IP strategy and patent opportunities with legal teams.
• Mentor engineers and participate in design reviews to uphold technical excellence.
• Integrate human factors and user-centered design for safety and effectiveness.
• Lead multi-disciplinary teams to research, design, and develop new products.
