Job summary

Lees Summit R-7 School District in Missouri seeks an Elementary Certified Special Education Teacher for anticipated vacancies for the 2027-28 school year. The role involves supporting students across 7.5 hours per day over 182 days, with collaboration across staff and families to implement individualized education plans and develop students’ academic and daily living skills.

The position reports to the Principal.

Qualifications

• Skill-based competencies required to satisfactorily perform the functions of the job include applying assessment instruments, operating standard office equipment including using pertinent software applications, and preparing and maintaining accurate records.

Responsibilities

• Administers developmental testing programs, district assessments and/or state tests for the purpose of assessing student competency levels and/or developing individual learning plans.
• Collaborates with professional learning community, instructional staff, other school personnel, parents, business partners, and community resources for the purpose of improving student outcomes and meeting IEP goals.
• Directs para professionals, volunteers and/or student workers for the purpose of providing an effective classroom program and addressing the needs of individual students.
• Instructs students for the purpose of improving their success in academic, interpersonal, and daily living skills.
• Maintains confidential and non-confidential files and records for mandated requirements.
• Manages student behavior for the purpose of providing a safe and optimal learning environment.
• Schedules students with para professionals and other school personnel for instructional and/or therapeutic services.
