Job summary

Revere Public School District is seeking an Elementary School Music/Chorus educator to teach singing and instruments, plan engaging lessons, and prepare students for school performances. The selected candidate will utilize diverse repertoire, lead ensembles, differentiate instruction, and collaborate with staff to ensure equity and high expectations for all students.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in education or related field; Master’s degree preferred
• Valid Massachusetts DESE licensure in Music and SEI Endorsement
• Proficient piano skills
• Strong written and verbal communication skills
• Excellent computer/technology skills with classroom software
• Committed to equity, inclusion, diversity, and anti-racist practices

Responsibilities

• Utilize repertoire of all types of music literature appropriate for students’ ages and skill levels
• Provide opportunities for music ensembles including band, choir and musicals
• Plan, rehearse, and direct students in musical programs for school and community
• Differentiate music curriculum to meet needs of individual students
• Plan a balanced music program and manage class time for prep, rehearsal, and instruction
• Develop and refine music curriculum based on Massachusetts frameworks
• Establish and maintain standards of student behavior for productive practice
• Evaluate each student’s musical growth and contributions
• Communicate with parents and staff on student progress
• Maintain care of school-owned music and equipment
• Prepare and deliver lesson plans with adjustments as needed
• Collaborate with colleagues and differentiate instruction for all students
• Maintain accurate records of student progress and development
• Incorporate technology into daily classroom practice
• Perform other duties as assigned by the Principal or Superintendent
