Qualifications

Responsibilities

• Utilize repertoire of all types of music literature appropriate for students’ ages and skill levels
• Provide opportunities for music ensembles including band, choir and musicals
• Plan, rehearse, and direct students in musical programs for school and community
• Differentiate music curriculum to meet needs of individual students
• Plan a balanced music program and manage class time for prep, rehearsal, and instruction
• Develop and refine music curriculum based on Massachusetts frameworks
• Establish and maintain standards of student behavior for productive practice
• Evaluate each student’s musical growth and contributions
• Communicate with parents and staff on student progress
• Maintain care of school-owned music and equipment
• Prepare and deliver lesson plans with adjustments as needed
• Collaborate with colleagues and differentiate instruction for all students

Job Description

The Paul Revere Innovation School is seeking an Elementary School Music/Chorus educator to teach singing to students as well as the ability to teach and incorporate musical instruments, plan and implement a program of instruction and lesson plans, and prepare students for school performances and planned music experiences. We are seeking teachers who are passionate and dedicated to bringing the curriculum to life for each student. • Utilize repertoire of all types of music literature, including traditional and contemporary that are appropriate for the ages and skill levels of students.
• Provide opportunities for music ensembles including band, choir & musicals.
• Plan, rehearse, and direct students in musical programs for school and community.
• Differentiate music curriculum to meet the needs of the individual student and the student body.
• Plan a balanced music program, and organize daily class time so that preparation, rehearsal and instruction can be accomplished within the allotted time.
• Develop and refine music curriculum based on Massachusetts curriculum frameworks of creating, performing, and responding.
• Establish and maintain standards of student behavior to provide an orderly, productive environment during practice, group rehearsals, and music performances.
• Evaluate each student’s musical growth and contribution to the performance of the group that allows everyone to contribute.
• Communicate clearly with parents and school faculty/staff on the progress of individual students.
• Maintain care/responsibility for school-owned music, musical instruments, and equipment to prevent loss or abuse.
• Prepare and deliver lesson plans with the ability to modify accordingly during the school year.
• Work directly with all school staff members.
• Differentiate instruction to meet the needs of all students.
• Maintain accurate and complete records of students’ progress and development.
• Utilize research-based best practices in daily planning and classroom instruction.
• Manage student behavior in the classroom.
• Create a positive classroom environment to support learning for all students.
• Utilize school approved curricula that reflects the diverse educational, cultural, and linguistic backgrounds of the students.
• Implement school-wide culture expectations and norms.
• Communicate and meet with caregivers regarding the academic and social-emotional growth of their child.
• Incorporate technology skills into daily classroom practice to support learning.
• Participate in the planning and implementation of non-instructional activities, as needed.
• Collaborate and communicate effectively with colleagues.
• Perform other duties as assigned by the Principal or Superintendent.

QUALIFICATIONS

• Minimum of a Bachelor’s degree in education or related field; Master’s degree preferred
• Valid Massachusetts Department of Elementary and Secondary Education licensure in Music and SEI Endorsement
• Proficient piano skills preferred
• High level of comfort working in a growth-focused coaching environment based on frequent observations, debriefs, action planning, and progress monitoring
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills
• Excellent computer/technology skills with the ability to utilize various computer software and app programs
• Committed to the vision of high expectations for achievement, equal access to high levels of instruction, the achievement of academic and linguistic proficiency for all students, and the closing of the opportunity gap
• A self-reflective, active learner capable of interactive dialogue with all members of the school community
• Ability to properly manage confidential information

The student population at the Paul Revere School is greatly diversified; that is, the student population consists of multi-ethnic elementary age public school children in the City of Revere, neighborhood children as well as those choosing to attend from other school districts within Revere (whenever possible).
