Job summary

The City of Hattiesburg Parks & Recreation Department seeks an Innovative Programs Coordinator who will research, develop, implement and evaluate creative recreation programs for all ages. This role collaborates across departments and partners to expand opportunities beyond traditional activities and strengthen community wellness and engagement.

As a member of the Summer Camp leadership team, you will assist with planning, staff recruitment, training, curriculum delivery, and program operations,

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Parks and Recreation, Recreation Administration, Public Administration, Event Management, Communications, Marketing, Education, Leisure Services, or a closely related field preferred.
• Experience in recreation programming, event planning, youth programming, community engagement, project management, communications, or related field preferred.
• Valid Mississippi driver’s license.

Responsibilities

• Research recreation trends, best practices, and community needs to develop innovative, inclusive, and sustainable programming.
• Develop, administer, and evaluate surveys and assessments to measure program effectiveness.
• Analyze findings and prepare reports, recommendations, and presentations for planning.
• Coordinate recreational programs, classes, workshops, and community initiatives.
• Assist with Summer Camp leadership: planning, staffing, training, curriculum, logistics, and operations.
• Recruit, onboard, train, and supervise seasonal staff and volunteers.
