Qualifications

• Minimum Qualifications include Registration as a Professional Engineer (PE) or Architect, and one year of professional experience as an Engineer.

Responsibilities

• Lead research and pilot programs focused on improving safety, sustainability, resiliency, and performance of Alaska’s transportation systems.
• Help advance emerging tools and technologies, including drones, AI-supported asset collection, bridge and infrastructure analysis, data systems, and other transportation solutions.
• Use research, data, and technology to support better decisions, improve operations, and inform policy and program development.
• Build partnerships with internal teams, universities, federal agencies, local governments, industry experts, and other transportation organizations.
• Promote the transfer of knowledge from research into practice through training, technical assistance, communication, and workforce development.
• Support and mentor staff while encouraging curiosity, problem-solving, collaboration, and continuous improvement.
