Job summary

Baltimore County is seeking a dedicated Correctional Officer to maintain care, custody, and order for inmates both on and off the property. The role requires vigilance, authority, and compliance with safety and security protocols.

The officer will participate in restrictive search procedures, supervise inmate activities, and respond to incidents with appropriate action while adhering to county policies and training requirements.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• Must be at least 18 years old.
• U.S. citizen or resident alien.
• Successful background, psychological, polygraph, and medical examinations.
• Possession of a valid driver’s license (Class C) may be required.

Responsibilities

• Assists in receiving or discharging inmates.
• Ensures inmates are searched, bathed, clothed, and assigned to cells.
• Confines and releases inmates from cells.
• Monitors inmate activities and safety.
• Transports inmates using a County vehicle when needed.
• Supervises inmates on work details and in housing areas.
• Patrols perimeters and enforces facility rules and visitor control.
