Job summary

The position involves supervising inmates, maintaining security, and enforcing jail rules within the county facility. You will perform head counts, escort inmates, and manage access to services while following procedures to prevent escapes and maintain order.

Ideal candidates will have strong observational skills, the ability to work under stress, basic first aid/CPR knowledge, and the willingness to work varying shifts in a demanding environment.

Qualifications

• Working knowledge of computers and software programs.
• Good organizational and communications skill requirement are excellent.
• Ability to develop a wide range of knowledge of departmental procedures and techniques.
• Knowledge of first aid and CPR.
• Ability to supervise the activities of inmates and deal with situations requiring tact, fairness, firmness and good judgment.
• Ability to remain alert at all times and react quickly and calmly in emergency situations.
• Ability to work with diverse cultural groups and individuals.
• Ability to work under stressful situations.
• Ability to take direction.
• Ability to work varying shifts.
• Ability to understand and work with Federal, State, County, and Local laws and ordinances.
• Ability to accurately interpret individuals mental and physical conditions.

Responsibilities

• Book and discharge inmates and record demographics.
• Control access to jail.
• Photograph and fingerprint new admissions.
• Escort inmates during work assignments and activities.
• Monitor and document inmate incidents and rule violations.
• Maintain daily logs of inmate activities and prisoner IDs.
• Inspect facilities for security and contraband.
• Provide verbal and written reports on inmate conduct and incidents.
