Job summary

The State of South Carolina is seeking an Administrative Specialist for the Inmate Grievance Branch. Under limited supervision, you will perform a range of clerical and investigative duties, interviewing inmates and staff, and offering recommendations to resolve grievances at the lowest level.

You will review policies and statutes, interpret rules for day-to-day operations, and process Step 1 and Step 2 decisions, with four weeks of basic training upon hire.

Qualifications

• A high school diploma and four years of clerical or administrative experience.
• A bachelor's degree may substitute for the related work experience.
• Experience with personal computers, leadership, law enforcement/paralegal/research or investigations.

Responsibilities

• Performs a wide variety of administrative duties for the Inmate Grievance Branch.
• Investigates grievances by conducting impartial inquiries of circumstances with inmates and staff.
• Analyzes information and prepares recommendations to resolve problems at the lowest level.
• Reviews SCDC policies, statutes, disciplinary tapes, and related grievance documentation.
• Interprets rules, regulations and procedures as they apply to operations and grievance procedures; serves Step 1 & 2 decisions.
