Job summary

HI-LEX CONTROLS INC in Litchfield, MI seeks a Second Shift Injection Molding Operator to instruct operators, perform in-process checks, and ensure quality and safety standards are met. The role covers machine changeovers, material validation, and active problem solving in a busy plastics environment.

Candidates should have a high school diploma and at least 3 years of experience in plastic injection molding, plus familiarity with hand tools, gages, scanning devices, and ERP systems.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• 3 years experience in plastic injection molding.
• Experience with hand tools, cranes, grinders, calipers, and gages.
• Experience using a Powered Industrial Truck (PIT) and/or a hand or powered pallet jack; familiarity with handheld scanners and ERP/computer systems.

Responsibilities

• Instructs operators in the safe and proper operation of all injection molding machines to produce a part conforming to all quality and production standards.
• Performs in process checks, tests and gaging as required by control plans and operator instructions.
• Identifies out of specification components and follows non-conforming product and/or hold tag procedures.
• Responsible for 1st piece validation for each job and correct material being used.
• Performs product problem solving and corrective actions.
• Works to ensure company goals are attained.
• Performs process adjustments when necessary.
• Completes required forms and paperwork.
• Verifies quantities, lot numbers, labels, and correctness of parts.
• Performs cycle counts using handheld scanner and ERP system.
• Repairs minor machine problems and assists operators with minor preventative maintenance.
• Completes TPM as required.
• Notifies team leader and/or supervisor when any equipment or gauge needs maintenance, repair, or calibration.
• Follows all safety rules and keeps the work area in a clean and orderly condition.
• Fills in for Team Leader when needed.
• Instructs operators on 4S program and confirms daily activities are understood and completed.
• Performs other duties as necessary.
