Aerotek is seeking a Set-Up Technician for Elgin, IL to support production on 300-ton injection molding machines with robotics and automation.

The role covers mold changeovers, process optimization, troubleshooting, and quality assurance in a fast-paced environment, with a contract-to-hire path and onsite work.

The team emphasizes collaboration, safety, and continuous improvement as you read blueprints and set up parameters.

Qualifications

• Experience setting up and troubleshooting plastic manufacturing equipment.
• Injection molding experience preferred; blow molding/thermoforming invited.
• Knowledge of mold changeovers, process optimization, and quality inspections.

Responsibilities

• Set up and operate injection molding machines, robotics, and automation systems.
• Perform mold changeovers and establish process parameters including temperature, pressure, and feed rates.
• Monitor and adjust molding processes to ensure quality and efficient production.
• Troubleshoot molding defects such as flash, short shots, discoloration, and deformation.
• Conduct quality inspections and ensure parts meet specifications.
• Support continuous improvement initiatives to increase productivity and reduce scrap.
• Create and maintain setup procedures and work instructions.
• Read and interpret blueprints and technical documentation.
• Maintain a safe, clean, and organized work area.
