Injection Mold Maker & Repair Supervisor

AGS Technology, Inc. is an IATF certified custom injection molding company specializing in the use of recycled thermoplastics. AGS Technology formulates, molds, and assembles various plastic parts used in the automotive, construction, industrial, and consumer markets. We are looking for a dynamic candidate to help us take our Mold/Tooling Repair department to the next level. This is a unique opportunity to directly impact our growing company. Under the direction of the Tool Room Manager, this roll will support the tool room and production floor needs. The top candidate will thrive in a fast-paced environment, while maintaining safety and quality standards.
Tooling Supervisor Job Summary:
We are seeking a skilled and experienced Mold/Tool Repair Supervisor to manage the repair, maintenance, and optimization of tools, dies, fixtures, and related fabrications for our Production, Maintenance, and Engineering departments. The ideal candidate will have hands-on experience operating a variety of machine tools and will take an active role in ensuring the quality, safety, and efficiency of the mold/tool room operations.
In this role, you will:
·Set up and Operate Machine Tools: Set up and operate various machine tools, including vertical milling machines, surface grinders, lathes, cutters, drill presses, and other auxiliary equipment to manufacture both metallic and plastic workpieces according to production requirements.
·Inspect Workpieces for Quality: Measure, examine, and test completed parts and molds to check for defects and ensure conformance to specifications. Use standard toolroom measuring instruments, such as calipers, gauge blocks, micrometers, and dial indicators, to verify the accuracy and precision of the workpieces.
·Supervise and Support the Mold/Tool Repair Team: Lead and mentor the mold/tool repair team, providing guidance on repair and injection mold maintenance tasks while assisting in the development and training of toolroom technicians.
·Ensure Safety & Compliance: Adhere to all safety procedures, company policies, and quality standards while maintaining a clean and organized work environment. Ensure compliance with safety protocols and oversee the proper documentation of tooling maintenance activities.
·Collaborate Across Departments: Work closely with Production, Engineering, and Maintenance teams to identify tooling needs, troubleshoot issues, and ensure minimal downtime to keep production on schedule.
·Continuous Improvement: Identify opportunities to improve tool maintenance/repair processes, reduce costs, and enhance productivity. Help drive initiatives to optimize mold/tooling performance across all departments.
·Maintain Attendance & Work Ethic: Demonstrate a consistent commitment to reliable attendance and punctuality, ensuring that production timelines are met with minimal disruptions.
Key Skills and Qualifications:
·Extensive Machining Experience: Hands-on experience setting up and operating vertical milling machines, grinders, lathes, and other machine tools to create and maintain mold/tooling components.
·Quality Control & Measurement: Proficient in using precision measuring instruments like calipers, micrometers, and dial indicators to ensure tooling and workpieces meet specifications and quality standards.
·Leadership & Mentorship: Proven ability to lead and develop a team of mold/tool technicians in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.
·Safety-Focused: Deep commitment to safety and cleanliness in the workplace, with a strong track record of following safety protocols and company policies.
·Problem-Solving Skills: Strong troubleshooting abilities to quickly identify and resolve injection molding tool issues.
·Organizational Skills: Ability to prioritize tasks and manage resources effectively to meet deadlines and production goals.

5.Physical Requirements:
·Frequent standing, walking, and sitting, with regular use of hands for handling feeling and manipulating objects.

7.Vision Requirements:
·Specific vision abilities required include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.
8.Work Schedule Flexibility:
·Availability to work overtime and weekends as required.
·Regular exposure to moving mechanical parts.
Education and Experience:
·Tooling and Injection Molding Knowledge:
·The Tool Room Supervisor must have hands-on experience with injection molds/tools and a solid understanding of injection molding machines.
·Educational Requirements:
·High school diploma or equivalent is required
·Technical or vocational school education is preferred.
·Minimum of 10 years of tool making experience or an equivalent combination of education and hands-on experience.
·Technical Skills:
·Proficient with CNC controls, lathe operations, surface grinders, inspection devices, and related equipment.
·Strong working knowledge or reading blueprints, technical drawings, and specification illustrations.
·Proficient in Microsoft Excel and AutoCAD.
·Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to effectively communicate within a team and across departments.
·Supervisory Experience:
·At minimum 3 years of supervisory experience, with the ability to lead and manage a team effectively.
·Additional Skills (Preferred):
·Welding experience is preferred but not required.
·Bilingual (English/Spanish): Fluency in both English and Spanish is highly preferred for effective communication with a diverse workforce.
Schedule:
·Monday to Friday, full-time, 1 st shift hourly position.
·Possible overtime as needed.
Compensation:
·Pay range: $38.00 - $44.00 per hour, negotiable based on experience.
·Eligible for annual bonus based on performance.
