Job summary

Software Placement Group seeks an experienced Injection Molding Engineer for its Columbus, OH facility. The role centers on new model development, production engineering, and process improvement in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.

You’ll drive trial schedules, analyze defects, and provide financial insight on capital investments, aiming to reduce costs and increase productivity. On-site work with travel required; relocation support available.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in plastics, mechanical engineering, or industrial engineering.
• 5–10 years of injection molding and robotics experience.
• Proficiency with CAD / 3-D modeling.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office.
• Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
• Critical thinking and problem-solving abilities.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
• Excellent oral and written communication skills.
• Excellent project management skills.
• Willingness to work on-site in Columbus, OH, including exposure to cranes and molding equipment; travel up to 3 days per month.

Responsibilities

• Assist with new model development and trial schedules.
• Analyze scrap problems and manufacturing defects, developing solutions to control manufacturing costs.
• Provide technical insight on inventory, manufacturing costs, and capital investments to ensure reliable financial information.
• Participate in capital investment projects, including installation of new equipment and processes for new model development.
• Apply engineering specifications to meet production needs and improve production.
• Evaluate and implement new technologies to solve problems, reduce costs, increase productivity, or improve product quality.
• Use current technology to evaluate manufacturing performance and safeguard profitability and quality.
• Provide technical support to production, process, and maintenance teams to reduce downtime and increase productivity.
• Improve new model development including start-up, tooling design, process development, process simulations, robot programming, and process confirmation.
