Job summary

Zing Recruiting, in partnership with a leading automotive manufacturer in Spartanburg, SC, is seeking an Injection Molding Engineer to lead design reviews, develop molding/automation equipment, and drive tooling improvements. You will provide direction to mold and automation engineers and may travel as needed.

The role focuses on reducing downtime, improving quality and safety, and contributing to DFM during product development.

Qualifications

• BS in an engineering discipline with relevant experience.
• Minimum 4 years in injection molding and 2+ years in automated work cells.
• Strong mechanical aptitude and problem-solving abilities.
• Excellent communication and leadership skills.
• Willingness to travel as needed.

Responsibilities

• Identify and pursue enhancements in molding/automation cells for cost, quality, safety, and ergonomics.
• Review and approve new mold tooling designs with suppliers and provide specs.
• Run off new tooling at supplier location and verify you meet build specs.
• Support APQP development including PFMEA, Process Flows and Work Instructions.
• Support production to minimize downtime.
• Contribute to product design during development for DFM.
• Support Quality and Environmental Management Systems.
• Lead validation trials and feasibility studies for processes and materials.
• Develop specifications, new tools, processes and training procedures; perform root-cause analysis.

Injection Molding Engineer Job Summary

Full Time, Direct Hire

Spartanburg, SC

• Identify and pursue potential enhancements in new or existing molding/automation work cells that would result in cost savings, quality, safety, and ergonomic improvements. Troubleshoot quality and processing concerns on new tooling and equipment, then implement correction action.
• Reviewing and approving new mold tooling designs with suppliers and providing specifications to suppliers to meet our equipment and manufacturing requirements.
• Run off new tooling and equipment at supplier location, approving for acceptance and shipping. Inspect and verify incoming tooling and equipment to ensure they meet original build specifications.
• Supports APQP development for new products tasks. Including development of PFMEA’s, Process Flows and BTO Work Instructions.
• Must actively support production, resolving issues as they arise, to minimize downtime.
• Contribute to product design during the development stage to ensure Design for Manufacturing (DFM) principals, customer functional, and aesthetic requirements are considered.
• Supports the Quality and Environmental Management Systems.
• Leads validation trials, feasibility studies, design tests for performance of processes and materials.
• Assists with development of specifications, new tools, processes, and training procedures.Utilizes disciplined and proven problem-solving techniques to determine root cause analysis for equipment downtime and customer complaints and develops permanent corrective actions.
• Scrap reduction activities in assigned area of responsibility. Supports, contributes, and demonstrates lean manufacturing principles in work area.
• Continuously works toward achieving goals and measurables of the facility.
• Complies with policies, procedures, and facility standards in ISO14001, ISO45001, IATF 16949, including safety and environmental guidelines.
• Required to be on call and responsive to production support needs of the facility.

Injection Molding Engineer Job Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in engineering discipline with minimum 4 years directly related experience in an injection molding manufacturing facility or substantial injection molding experience with proven capabilities. Minimum 2 years of experience in Automated work cell environment and mold design review and approvals.
• Above average mechanical aptitude
• MS Office Proficient
• CAD software experience (AutoCAD, SolidWorks)
• Ability to analyze equipment and processes in an industrial environment.
• Excellent communication and leadership skills
• Willingness and ability to travel, as necessary.
