Job summary

Hengst of North America is looking for an experienced Injection Molding Engineer to join our Camden, SC-based Engineering team. This hands-on role owns injection molding processes, tooling, automation, and continuous improvement from concept through production.

You will drive process validation, support new product launches, and collaborate with cross-functional teams to optimize quality, cycle time, and cost in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Plastics/Polymer Engineering, Plastics Processing, or a related field.
• 5+ years of injection molding engineering experience.
• Strong knowledge of injection molding processes, tooling, process validation, and plastic materials.
• Experience with scientific molding principles.
• Strong analytical and hands-on troubleshooting skills.
• Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.

Responsibilities

• Develop, optimize, and troubleshoot plastic injection molding processes using scientific molding principles.
• Design, develop, and improve molds, tooling, fixtures, and auxiliary systems.
• Support new product launches from concept through validation and series production.
• Develop process parameters and execute process validation using data-driven methods.
• Lead improvements in quality, cycle time, reliability, cost, and manufacturability.
• Specify and source new equipment and support capital projects through installation, validation, and production handoff.
• Support robotics and manufacturing automation, including programming and troubleshooting.
• Apply PFMEA, statistical analysis, and structured problem-solving tools to identify and resolve manufacturing issues.
• Partner with Manufacturing, Quality, suppliers, and other cross-functional teams to solve problems and improve plant performance.

This is a hands-on engineering role for someone who enjoys being close to the manufacturing process. You’ll take ownership of injection molding processes, tooling, automation, and continuous improvement while supporting new product launches from concept through production.

What We’re Looking For:

• Six Sigma Green/Black Belt, RJG Master Molder II, or equivalent certification
