Job summary

Physicians' Clinic of Iowa is seeking a patient-focused RN to join our Hematology and Oncology infusion team. This full-time role provides high-quality patient care in a hematology/oncology setting with safe medication administration and thorough clinical documentation.

Responsibilities include pre/infusion assessments, vital signs monitoring, EMR documentation, and collaboration with patients, families, and outside entities.

Qualifications

• Current RN license required.
• Infusion experience preferred.
• BLS required or must obtain within 60 days of employment.
• Proficiency in EMR and related computer systems.
• Strong commitment to patient care and teamwork.
• Excellent communication skills, professionalism, reliability, and maintaining confidentiality.
• Thorough understanding of safety regulations and best practices.

Responsibilities

• Performing initial and ongoing patient assessments prior to and during each infusion to ensure patients are free of infection, adverse reactions, or other complications.
• Monitor and record patient vital signs during infusion (temperature, blood pressure, pulse).
• Document in EMR including medication lists, treatments, patient care instructions, and communications with outside entities.
• Communicate medical information appropriately with patients, families, coworkers, and outside institutions.
• Verify chemotherapy orders and lab results for accuracy.
• Administer and monitor chemotherapy and other medications for hematology/oncology patients.
• Maintain knowledge of chemotherapy drugs, including side effects and infusion rates.
• Educate patients on IV therapy and the infusion process.
• Support cross-training needs by assisting triage nurses, clinic nurses, and rooming staff.
