Metro Infectious Disease Consultants is seeking a Registered Nurse to supervise and administer infusion therapy at the Thousand Oaks clinic. You will work 4 days a week (32 hours) with Fridays off, Monday-Thursday schedule.

The role emphasizes infusion care, patient education, and collaboration with physicians to ensure safe, effective treatment. Candidates must hold a CA RN license and have infusion experience; chemo experience is a plus. Vaccinations must be current.

Qualifications

• Graduation from an accredited school of nursing.
• Current CA RN license.
• At least 2 years RN office practice experience; infusion preferred.
• Infusion experience is required.
• Chemo experience preferred but not required.
• Proof of current vaccinations for immunocompromised patients.

Responsibilities

• Place peripheral lines and teach self-administration; document in Medical Record.
• Review daily lab results and relay information to physicians/patients.
• Eprescribe prescriptions per doctor’s order and communicate to pharmacies.
• Handle calls and scheduling; document in EMR for meaningful use.
• Respond to calls; meet patients; schedule visits as needed.
• Participate in quality assurance and educational activities.
• Use clinical judgment to meet patient care needs and set priorities.
• Monitor safety and environment/equipment; ensure compliance with standards.
• Foster good interpersonal communications with the facility.
• Adhere to nursing standards, laws, and MIDC policy.
• Other duties as assigned.

Specific Duties:

• Place Peripheral Lines (peripherally inserted central catheter) lines for new patients, teach infusion patients how to self-administer medications. Document same in Medical Record.
• Review and chart daily laboratory results, passing information on to physicians and/or patients as needed.
• Eprescribe prescriptions at doctor’s order and communicate to pharmacies.
• Receive and return patient and other’s telephone calls.
• Review EMR charts for next day’s appointments, ordering lab results, consult reports or notes as necessary and document all required fields are within EMR to be eligible for meaningful use.
• Responding to telephone calls, meeting patients in the office and scheduling patients to come to the office as needed.
• Participate in quality assurance and educational activities as requested.
• Uses clinical judgment in evaluation activities to meet patient care needs establishing priorities.
• Monitors the safety and effectiveness of the environment and equipment.
• Participates in activities to facilitate good interpersonal communications with facility.
• Supports professional practice by observing the following: Uses knowledge and practices in accordance with 1) Standards of Nursing Practice; 2) JCAHO, state and local laws; 3) MIDC policy.

• Proof of current vaccinations, including recommended boosters, commonly required for those working with immunocompromised patients, including measles, mumps, rubella, varicella, hepatitis A & B, influenza, and COVID-19.
