Job summary

Baptist Health is seeking a registered nurse to join the oncology unit in Louisville, KY. The RN uses the nursing process to collect patient information, determine needs, and administer prescribed chemotherapy and related care for adults and geriatric patients.

Qualifications include graduation from an accredited nursing program with KY RN licensure; 1 year Med‑Surg or ED experience; BCLS required; oncology experience and certification preferred.

Qualifications

• Graduation from an accredited program of professional nursing.
• Active KY Registered Nurse license.
• Minimum of 1 year Med-Surg or ED experience.
• Oncology experience preferred.
• BCLS required.
• Oncology nursing certification preferred.
• Must obtain Chemotherapy/Biotherapy certification preferably during orientation or within 6 months - prior to administration of Chemotherapy

Responsibilities

• Assesses and documents patient status, including labs, diagnostic tests, and patient understanding of chemotherapy and other planned treatment.
• Provides care according to policy and oncology nursing guidelines.
• Provides education to patient regarding care and symptom management.
• Evaluates patient response to therapy.
• Collaborates with healthcare team, physicians, social worker, pharmacist, etc. in safe and effective patient care.
• Demonstrates organizational and leadership skills
