Responsibilities

• Coordinate scheduling and management of infusion appointments.

Description of Responsibilities

The Infusion Coordinator is a vital member of the clinical team, responsible for managing and coordinating all aspects of infusion therapy services. This role ensures timely and accurate scheduling, medication procurement, insurance authorization, and patient communication. The Infusion Coordinator also supports clinical operations through lab draws, IV starts, and administrative tasks, contributing to a seamless and patient-centered care experience.

Responsibilities of the Infusion Coordinator

• 1. Infusion Therapy Coordination
  • Schedule and manage infusion appointments
  • Assess patient eligibility and coordinate insurance benefits for infusion services
  • Coordinate with clinical staff to ensure proper medication procurement and administration
• Patient Communication and Support
  • Serve as a primary point of contact for patients regarding care
  • Return, patient calls, provide test results, and offer guidance on treatment logistics
  • Educate patients on medication and treatment
• Authorization and Referral Management
  • Obtain prior authorization for medications, test, and procedures
  • Process and track referrals, including those requiring coordination with external HUBs or assistance programs
• Clinical and Administrative Support
  • Perform clinical tasks such as lab draws and IV starts
  • Triage incoming messages and managed documentation in the electronic health record (HER)
  • Maintain accurate records and ensure timely communication with providers
• Inventory and Supply Oversight
  • Order and monitor medical and infusion supplies

• Documentation and Recordkeeping
  • Ensure all faxed and mailed documents are properly filled and attached to patient records
  • Maintain up-to-date resource list for hospital contacts, insurance requirements, and prior authorization protocols
• Reporting to the partners or their designee in a prompt, efficient manner with the proper disposition. This may include participation in routine management meetings, training, oversight, reporting, and coordination with other departments or personnel.
• Other projects, activities, or responsibilities assigned at the discretion of the partners or their designee.

Minimum Qualifications

• Graduate of an accredited Medical Assistant program is preferred
• Minimum of 1 to 2 years experience in clinical or outpatient setting
• Prior experience in infusion therapy, neurology, or specialty care is preferred
• Familiarity with benefits, investigation, prior authorization, and patient scheduling
• Strong, verbal and written communication skills
• Ability to multitask in a fast paced environment

Physical Requirements

• The employee is regularly required to stand, walk, and sit, as well as talk and hear
• Good hand-eye coordination, and the ability to lift up to at least 25 pounds
