Job summary

The Certified Medical Assistant (CMA) at Duke University Hospital – Infusion Clinic 2A plays a vital role in delivering direct patient care as part of an interdisciplinary team. The CMA supports both clinical and administrative duties to ensure efficient clinic operations.

Two 12-hour shifts per week with weekend rotations, located at 30 Duke Medicine Cir, Durham, NC, offers opportunities for growth within Duke Health's Magnet-recognized system.

Qualifications

• Graduation from an accredited Medical Assistant program is strongly preferred.

Responsibilities

• Answer telephones
• Greet patients
• Update and file patient medical records
• Fill out insurance forms
• Handle correspondence
• Schedule appointments
• Arrange for hospital admissions
• Arrange for laboratory services
• Handle billing and bookkeeping
• Take medical histories and record vital signs
• Explain treatment procedures to patients
• Prepare patients for examinations and procedures
• Assist the physician during examinations and procedures
• Draw blood
• Prepare patients for x-rays, tests and procedures
• Take electrocardiograms
• Change dressings

Education

Graduation from accredited Medical Assistant program

High school or GED graduation
