Job summary

Freeport-McMoRan is seeking an IT/ MIS technician to join their Chino site in New Mexico. The role involves setting up and installing PCs, phones, and networking gear, configuring and troubleshooting networks, and assisting in managing servers and storage for site operations.

Candidate must have 4+ years in hardware/software troubleshooting with a relevant certification, or 6+ years of experience in the same field. The position offers comprehensive benefits and potential career growth.

Qualifications

• Four years of hands-on troubleshooting experience in computer/electronic systems, with one relevant technical certification.
• Six years of experience in computer/electronic systems troubleshooting, maintenance, and repair.
• High School diploma or GED required.

Responsibilities

• Set up, deliver, and install PCs, phones, networking, and peripherals using defined procedures.
• Configure, install, troubleshoot, and monitor networking devices and infrastructure (copper and fiber).
• Assist in managing site servers and process control infrastructure (virtual/physical servers and storage).
• Assist in project execution related to MIS and process infrastructure.
• Participate in Safety and Environmental programs and ensure MIS policy compliance.

Where You Will Work

Chino is an open-pit copper mining complex located 15 miles from the historic mining community of Silver City in southwestern New Mexico. The historic Chino mine was among the world's first low-grade, open-pit copper mines. Today, the operation consists of a 36,000-metric-ton-per-day concentrator that produces copper and a 150-million-pound-per-year solvent extraction/electrowinning plant that produces copper cathode from solution generated by run-of-mine leaching.

What You Will Do

• Set-up, deliver and install personal computers, telephones, networking, and peripheral equipment using established and defined procedures and processes.
• Configure, install, troubleshoot, and monitor communications devices, including switches, hubs, wireless devices, MESH networking components, voice system, RF systems and other networking infrastructure (both copper and fiber optic)
• Assist in the management of site's servers and process control infrastructure, including site virtual/physical servers and storage devices.
• Assist in the execution of projects related to MIS and process infrastructure.
• Actively participate in Safety and Environmental programs, ensure MIS policy compliance and site operational goals.
• Perform other duties as required.

What You Bring To Freeport

• Four (4) years of experience in computer/electronic systems hardware/software troubleshooting, maintenance, and repair AND one (1) Technical Certification in a discipline relevant to the role that the applicant will be filling, OR
• Six (6) years of experience in computer/electronic systems hardware/software troubleshooting, maintenance, and repair

What We Offer You

The estimated pay range for this role is currently$32.00 - $43.00/hour. This range reflects base salary only and does not include bonus payments, benefits or retirement contributions. Actual base pay is determined by experience, qualifications, skills and other job-related factors. This role is eligible for additional discretionary and incentive payment considerations based on company and individual performance. More details will be shared during the hiring process.
