Job summary

Freeport-McMoRan Inc. is hiring at its Chino copper mining complex in southwestern New Mexico. The role focuses on setting up and maintaining computer, voice, and networking infrastructure to support site operations.

You will diagnose and repair PC hardware, printers, and PBX/VoIP systems, while following safety policies and contributing to environmental programs. Two years of hardware/software troubleshooting experience are required, plus basic networking and strong communication skills.

Qualifications

• Two years of experience in computer/electronic systems hardware/software troubleshooting.
• Experience with PC hardware, software, printers, fax machines and telephone handsets.
• Ability to analyze, troubleshoot and diagnose issues with computers and peripherals.
• Basic networking concepts including wireless networking equipment.
• Basic knowledge of voice systems (PBX/VoIP).
• Strong communication skills, verbal and written.
• Ability to work weekends/holidays and overtime as needed.
• Customer-service oriented with good organizational skills.
• Awareness of occupational hazards and safety practices.

Chino is an open-pit copper mining complex located 15 miles from the historic mining community of Silver City in southwestern New Mexico. The historic Chino mine was among the world's first low-grade, open-pit copper mines. Today, the operation consists of a 36,000-metric-ton-per-day concentrator that produces copper and a 150-million-pound-per-year solvent extraction/electrowinning plant that produces copper cathode from solution generated by run-of-mine leaching.

What You Will Do

• Set-up, deliver and install personal computers, telephones, networking, and peripheral equipment using established and defined procedures and processes.
• Perform preventative maintenance on voice and data communication systems and associated hardware maintaining accurate documentation.
• Actively participate in Safety and Environmental programs, ensure MIS policy compliance and site operational goals.
• Perform voice, network, and PC and basic wireless troubleshooting to isolate and diagnose infrastructure problems.
• Perform other duties as required.

What You Bring To Freeport

• Two (2) years of experience in computer/electronic systems hardware/software troubleshooting, maintenance, and repair.
• Demonstrated technical expertise in the installation, repair and maintenance of PC hardware, software, printers, fax machines and telephone handsets.
• Ability to effectively analyze, troubleshoot and diagnose issues with computers, peripherals, cellular and voice systems.
• Basic understanding of networking concepts, protocols and technology including wireless networking equipment
• Basic knowledge of voice systems (PBX/VoIP)
• Skill in effective communication, both verbal and written
• Ability to work weekends, holidays, rotating shifts and both scheduled and unscheduled overtime as business dictates.
• Must be customer service-oriented and possess good organizational skills.
• Ability to develop and maintain awareness of occupational hazards and safety precautions.
• Skilled in following safety practices and recognizing hazards.

What We Offer You

The estimated pay range for this role is currently $28.00 - $38.00/hour. This range reflects base salary only and does not include bonus payments, benefits or retirement contributions. Actual base pay is determined by experience, qualifications, skills and other job-related factors.
