Garmac Limited LLC in Abilene, TX is seeking an Infrastructure Technician II for a fully onsite contract role at the customer site. The schedule is Monday–Friday, 7:00am–3:30pm, with flexibility for after-hours work and some weekends as project demands. The position is hourly, with potential contract extension or hire for candidates willing to travel to support other U.S.

sites. You will install, test, and service structured cabling systems including fiber optics and copper, assemble data center

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or GED required; OSHA10 preferred (must obtain within 90 days).
  • 3-5 years telecom/structured cabling experience; data center experience a strong plus.
  • First Aid/CPR certification within 90 days; FOA or BICSI certifications preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Install, test, service, and decommission structured cabling systems including fiber optics and copper.
  • Build and remove cabinets, racks, cable trays, pathways, and related data center infrastructure.
  • Read and follow project drawings, specifications, and manufacturer guidelines.
  • Mentor less experienced technicians and help plan materials, tools, and tasks.

Infrastructure Technician II

Location: Fully onsite at customer site in Abilene, TX

Employment Type: Contract with possible contract-to-hire opportunity for candidates available to travel and support other U.S. sites as needed.

  • Openness to travel and support other sites within the U.S. as needed.
Key Responsibilities
Deliver High-Quality Structured Cabling Work
  • Install, test, service, and decommission structured cabling systems including fiberoptics, copper, communications, and otherlow voltagesystems.
  • Build and remove cabinets, racks, cable trays, pathways, and related data center infrastructure.
  • Perform physical installations and removals with precision, safety, and attention to detail.
Champion Safety and Quality
  • Follow all Company and customer safety standards to ensure anAccident-FreeEverydayenvironment.
  • Uphold quality, production, and industry best practices in every installation.
  • Maintain a clean, organized, andhazard-freework area to support efficient and safe operations.
Interpret and Execute Technical Plans
  • Read and follow project drawings, specifications, and manufacturer guidelines.
  • Apply broad understanding of structured cabling installation, routing, labeling, and commissioning.
  • Ensure installations meet design intent, customer requirements, and industry standards.
Support the Team and Mentor Others
  • Work as a proactive member of the team, supportingless experiencedtechnicians and sharing knowledge.
  • Help plan materials, tools, and tasks to keep projects moving smoothly.
  • Communicate clearly with supervisors, teammates, and customer representatives.

Work Environment and Physical Requirements

This is an active, hands-on role in data centers and technology-rich environments.

You will:

  • Work primarilyindoors, with occasional outdoor tasks.
  • Experience moderate noise levels typical of construction and data center settings.
  • Regularlysit, kneel, stoop, climb, crawl, reach, talk, and hearduring tasks.
  • Frequentlystand and walkfor extended periods.
  • Regularly lift and/or moveup to 50lbsand frequently lift up to25 lbs.
  • Work intight or confined spaces, raised floors, and sometimes atheightsusing ladders or lifts.
  • Wear PPE and follow all safety protocols.

Candidates must bring and maintain a professional tool kit, including but not limited to: notepad, tool pouch, cable sheath stripper, punch tools, scissors, screwdrivers, pliers, utility knife, tape measure, torpedo level, channel locks, hammer, wrench sets, socket sets, nut drivers, flashlight/headlamp, cordless drill, cordless impact, VFL, toner set, cable tester, and ankle-high boots.
