Job summary

Peyton Resource Group is seeking an installer skilled in structured cabling to install, test, and commission fiber optic and low-voltage systems in data center environments.

You will read drawings, follow industry standards, label and route cabling, and coordinate with project teams. The ideal candidate has 3–5 years of telecom experience, strong attention to detail, and a commitment to safety and quality workmanship.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma, GED, or equivalent.
  • 3-5 years of telecommunications, structured cabling, or related low-voltage experience.
  • Data center experience is strongly preferred.
  • Ability to safely and effectively use telecom and construction hand tools.
  • Ability to distinguish cable colors for identification and installation.
  • Ability to read, write, and communicate effectively in English.
  • Reliable transportation and dependable attendance.
  • Strong attention to detail and pride in quality workmanship.
  • Ability to work independently while following established instructions and procedures.
  • Positive, professional attitude and ability to adapt to changing project requirements.
  • OSHA 10 certification preferred; certification must be obtained within 90 days if not already held.
  • First Aid/CPR certification required within 90 days.
  • BICSI cabling certifications or similar industry credentials preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Read and interpret project drawings, specifications, installation documentation, and manufacturer guidelines.
  • Apply a solid understanding of structured cabling installation, routing, labeling, testing, and commissioning.
  • Identify potential installation issues and communicate them to supervisors or project leadership.
  • Complete assigned work efficiently while maintaining high standards for workmanship.
  • Work collaboratively with technicians, supervisors, project teams, and customer representatives.
  • Assist less experienced technicians by sharing technical knowledge and best practices.
  • Help coordinate materials, tools, equipment, and daily tasks to support project progress.
  • Communicate clearly and professionally with team members and site personnel.

Job description

Install, test, service, and decommission structured cabling systems, including:

  • Fiber optic cabling
  • Communications systems
  • Low-voltage infrastructure
  • Install and remove cabinets, racks, cable trays, pathways, and related data center infrastructure.
  • Perform physical installations, removals, and infrastructure modifications with accuracy and attention to detail.
  • Route, label, terminate, test, and commission cabling in accordance with project requirements and industry standards.

Safety & Quality

  • Follow all applicable safety requirements, site procedures, and industry best practices.
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and hazard-free work environment.
  • Perform work with a strong focus on quality, accuracy, and productivity.
  • Ensure installations meet project specifications, customer requirements, and applicable standards.
  • Properly use required personal protective equipment (PPE).
