Job summary

SmartWorks is seeking an IT Infrastructure Specialist to support a fully distributed team working remotely. The role will involve maintaining hosted client systems, O/S and database support, and automation testing, across R&D and other departments.

The candidate should have 3+ years in production, Linux experience (RHEL/CentOS), strong networking, cloud skills, and Terraform/Ansible proficiency. A related degree is required. Remote work aligns with Pacific time zones.

Qualifications

• 3+ years of production environment experience.
• Experience with Linux operating systems (RHEL, CentOS, or similar).
• Strong network administration skills, including firewalls and VPNs.
• Experience with cloud infrastructure, networking, and storage.
• Proficiency with Terraform, Ansible, and Bash scripting.
• Experience administering Oracle and PostgreSQL databases.
• RHEL server administration and maintenance.
• College diploma or university degree in Computer Science or related technical field.

Responsibilities

• Manage the SmartWorks hosted client application systems and internal R&D development systems, databases, networking and storage.
• Provide primary Operating System and Database support for our customers.
• Development and maintenance of automated unit test suites.
• Installation, configuration, and maintenance of our QA infrastructure.
• Perform bug fixes and other source code maintenance tasks.
• Design testing plans and strategies for different types of testing.
• Work with the sales team to provide technical details for proposals.
• Remotely install and configure hardware, operating system, and database platforms for our application during implementation projects.

We are looking for an IT Infrastructure Specialist to join our dynamic team of smart, positive, and passionate people who are appreciated for their unique talents and empowered to do their jobs well.

As the IT Infrastructure Specialist, you will work as part of the Research and Development team but will utilize your expertise to provide support to all of the SmartWorks departments, including Sales, Professional Services, and Support. We are a fully distributed workforce, with all of our management and staff working remotely from their homes, and we’ve operated this way for several years.

The successful candidate can be located anywhere in Canada and must be comfortable with working in the Pacific timezone only.

What your Impact will be:
