Job summary

The Nashville Department of Transportation and Multimodal Infrastructure (NDOT) seeks an Engineer 1 to perform professional engineering functions, including reviewing and developing plans, specifications, and other construction-related documents for infrastructure projects. Site visits ensure Metro guidelines and procedures are followed.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's Degree or higher in Engineering from an accredited college or university.
• Professional Engineering License, and four (4) years of post-degree engineering experience.
• Substitution will not be considered for this position.

Responsibilities

• Designs, prepares, reviews, and/or revises plans and specifications for infrastructure projects.
• Prepares and reviews cost estimates for projects.
• Compiles and analyzes data for project feasibility studies.
• Performs on-site inspections of projects.
• Reviews final 'as-built' plans and specifications.
• May serve as a project manager for complete street and traffic signal projects.
• Coordinates activities with other departments, government agencies, or private firms concerning.
• Prepares and reviews technical reports and correspondences.
• Attends various meetings.
• Oversees federal grant application for the project.
• Compiles and prepares data for project bids.
• Oversees acquisition and easements of property for projects.
• Consults and advises contractors on interpretation and enforcement of construction contract provisions.
• Confers with contractors and makes final inspections of project.
• Approves final payment for services.
