Job summary

The City of Bryan Public Works Department is seeking a GIS Technician to create and maintain GIS layers, support maintenance crews, and integrate GPS data into the GIS.

Candidates should have strong ArcGIS skills (Pro/Enterprise/Online), the ability to read engineering drawings, and willingness to work in both office and outdoor environments to support infrastructure projects.

This full-time position emphasizes data accuracy, collaboration, and reliable service to city operations and the public.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or GED with 5+ years GIS/GPS experience; or an Associate's degree with GIS coursework plus 1+ year GIS/GPS experience; or equivalent.
  • Preferred: Bachelor's degree with substantial GIS coursework and 1+ year GIS experience.

Responsibilities

  • Create maps to assist maintenance crews in locating infrastructure.
  • Coordinate GPS data collection and integrate data into the GIS.
  • Read engineering drawings to add infrastructure to the GIS.
  • Update GIS maps to reflect maintenance and repairs.
  • Collaborate with City GIS users to maintain data integrity.
  • Provide technical GIS support to city staff.
  • Perform related duties as required.
  • Respond to work in a timely manner.
