Summary
The Infrastructure Technician is responsible for designing, installing, and maintaining structured cabling, access control, security camera systems, fire alarm systems, and automation infrastructure. This technician will serve clients both locally and across the U.S., often traveling to job sites. Key Responsibilities
Client Services
- Maintain a client-first approach in all work and communication
- Deliver prompt, professional, and courteous service to all clients
- Uphold company standards for excellent customer service
- Continuously look for ways to improve client satisfaction
Technical Responsibilities
- Travel up to 90% to client locations nationwide
- Install, terminate, and test CAT5e, CAT6, and fiber optic cabling systems
- Install and service fire systems, access control, AV, and CCTV systems
- Read and interpret blueprints, electrical layouts, and building plans
- Diagnose, troubleshoot, and repair infrastructure and low-voltage systems
- Ensure proper documentation of billable time, project updates, and inventory
- Maintain and track company equipment and client-provided products
- Communicate effectively with team members, clients, and leadership
- Represent the company professionally in appearance, behavior, and written communication
- Confirm project scope and materials before arriving at job sites
- Work with minimal supervision and manage multiple priorities
- Occasional weekend work or travel may be required
- Other duties as assigned
Qualifications
Required:
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Minimum of 3 years field experience with:
- Infrastructure wiring
- Access control systems
- Fire alarm systems, including inspection experience (mandatory)
- CCTV systems, IP cameras, and NVRs
- Ability to work at heights up to 30 feet via ladder or scissor lift
- Physically capable of standing, bending, stooping, twisting, and climbing for extended periods
- Comfortable in confined spaces and variable temperature conditions
- Strong troubleshooting and mechanical aptitude
- Proficient with basic computer applications and tools
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Strong time management and organization skills
- Must be based preferably in Pennsylvania, but must be near a major airport
Preferred:
- Technical certifications or degree in a related field
- Experience with client-facing field work
- Familiarity with AV and integrated automation systems
Additional Skills
- Ability to read and speak English and comprehend instructions, memos
- Effective presentation skills in one-on-one and small group situations
- Ability to communicate effectively with team members, clients, and supervisors
- Mathematical skills including addition, subtraction, multiplication, division, rates, ratios, percentages, and graph interpretation
- Demonstrated engineering skills
Certificates, Licenses, Registrations
- Valid driver’s license with a clean record
- NICET, ESA, OSHA, or low-voltage certification
