Global Technology Services (GTS) keeps that system running. GTS operates the cloud, infrastructure, networks, platforms and services that every Optum and UnitedHealth Group business depends on, and is shifting that work from manual operations toward AI-enabled, automated and self-service technology services. As part of our team, you will be provided opportunities to channel your curiosity into initiative, working alongside experienced engineers and operators pursuing innovations that improve the health care experience for everyone.
The GTS Infrastructure and Engineering Development Program is a 12-month, in-person development experience that begins with a three-week onboarding bootcamp and then embeds each associate with a GTS team for the remainder of the program. Associates own real project work from day one, guided by a formal mentor and by the senior technologists on their team. The program concludes with placement into a GTS role, and its cohort-based structure builds community across locations and disciplines.
The program is designed around how our technology organization actually runs: build to operate, not build to build. Associates learn to translate business needs into technology outputs, operate and automate services at enterprise scale, and use AI as the default way of working rather than as a separate specialty.
Please note: this program develops talent for AI-enabled IT and technology services disciplines. Candidates pursuing software engineering or AI/ML engineering careers should apply to Optum's Technology Development Program (TDP), which serves those capabilities.
The focus areas below are intended to provide visibility into the types of work associates may support within GTS. Associate assignments will be determined by business necessity, program needs and available opportunities, rather than by individual track selection.
You'll be rewarded and recognized for your performance in an environment that will challenge you and give you clear direction on what it takes to succeed in your role as well as provide development for potential future roles.
