Job summary

Aaru is seeking an infrastructure engineer to build scalable, low-latency systems that power large-scale simulations. You will work across compute, networking, data pipelines, and developer tooling to remove bottlenecks and accelerate research workflows.

Location is New York City and in-person collaboration is expected. You will contribute to reliable production-grade infrastructure and own core architectural decisions end-to-end.

Qualifications

• Built infrastructure, frameworks, or internal platforms for fast-growing engineering teams.
• Debugged performance and reliability issues in distributed systems.
• Comfortable with networking, storage, compute, and cloud primitives.
• Helped transition research or experimental systems into production.
• Care about developer experience and build systems that engineers want to use.
• Comfortable with strongly typed languages or languages with algebraic type systems.

Responsibilities

• Design and build low-latency, high-throughput infrastructure for large-scale simulations.
• Improve reliability and performance of data ingestion and computation pipelines.
• Identify bottlenecks across compute, networking, storage, and orchestration.
• Build tools and abstractions to help engineering and research teams move faster.
• Productionize experimental research workflows into reliable, repeatable infrastructure.
• Own infrastructure decisions from architecture through implementation and operation.
