Job summary

TriStarr Talent is seeking an Infrastructure Engineer to join a well-established financial institution in San Antonio to design, implement, and maintain its enterprise infrastructure. This is a senior, hands-on role with focus on reliability and project delivery.

You will work across networking, servers, virtualization, storage, backups, and disaster recovery, coordinating with teams and vendors to ensure secure, available systems.

Qualifications

• 6+ years of enterprise IT infrastructure experience.
• Strong Cisco LAN switching and routing skills.
• Experience configuring enterprise firewalls.
• Hands-on VMware administration proficiency.
• Working knowledge of Linux server administration.
• Experience with storage and backup technologies.

TriStarr Talent is seeking an Infrastructure Engineer to join a well-established financial institution in San Antonio to support the design, implementation, and ongoing reliability of its enterprise infrastructure.

This is not a help-desk position. You will serve as a senior technical resource, working hands-on across networking, servers, virtualization, firewalls, storage, and backup/disaster recovery. The role combines complex Tier III troubleshooting with infrastructure projects that typically run from three to nine months.

This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced infrastructure professional who enjoys solving difficult problems, building reliable environments, and taking projects from initial requirements through implementation.

What You’ll Do

• Install, configure, and support enterprise infrastructure, including routers, switches, firewalls, servers, storage, and virtualization platforms.
• Support Cisco LAN switching and routing environments.
• Configure and troubleshoot enterprise firewall technologies.
• Administer VMware environments, including vSphere, ESXi, and vCenter.
• Support Windows and Linux servers in physical and virtual environments.
• Maintain enterprise storage, backup, recovery, and disaster-recovery solutions.
• Serve as a Tier III escalation resource for complex infrastructure incidents.
• Perform root-cause analysis and develop long-term solutions to recurring problems.
• Participate in infrastructure projects lasting approximately three to nine months.
• Gather technical requirements and contribute to solution design and implementation planning.
• Coordinate infrastructure changes with internal teams, vendors, and business stakeholders.
• Create and maintain network diagrams, implementation plans, support procedures, and technical documentation.
• Follow established security, change-management, and operational standards.
• Assist with infrastructure upgrades, migrations, refreshes, and disaster-recovery testing.

What We’re Looking For

• 6+ years hands-on experience supporting enterprise IT infrastructure.
• Strong knowledge of Cisco LAN switching and routing.
• Experience configuring and troubleshooting enterprise firewalls.
• Hands-on VMware administration experience.
• Working knowledge of Linux server administration.
• Experience supporting enterprise storage and backup technologies.
• Understanding of disaster recovery, system availability, and infrastructure resiliency.
• Proven ability to troubleshoot complex network and systems issues.
• Experience contributing to infrastructure design and implementation projects.
• Strong technical documentation, organization, and communication skills.
• Ability to work independently while collaborating effectively with technical teams and business stakeholders.

Preferred Experience

• Previous experience in banking, financial services, healthcare, utilities, government, or another regulated environment.
• Experience with Active Directory, Group Policy, DNS, and DHCP.
• Experience with SAN or NAS storage.
• Experience with platforms such as Veeam, Rubrik, Commvault, or similar backup solutions.
• Cisco, VMware, Microsoft, firewall, storage, or backup certifications.
• Experience supporting highly available or business-critical infrastructure.
