Job summary

Proforma is seeking an Infrastructure Engineer to design, deploy, and continuously improve a hybrid Windows/Linux infrastructure, emphasizing OpenShift container platforms and OVN-based networking. You will own container networking, BGP routing, and virtualization strategies in a collaborative in-house IT setting.

Qualifications

  • 4-5+ years in infrastructure engineering, systems administration, or a related role.
  • Hands-on experience with Red Hat OpenShift or Kubernetes cluster administration.
  • Strong working knowledge of BGP and container networking (OVN-Kubernetes preferred).
  • Proficient in Red Hat Enterprise Linux (RHEL) administration.
  • Experience with Windows Server and Active Directory in a hybrid environment.

Responsibilities

  • Configure and maintain BGP routing within the OpenShift/OVN environment to ensure stable container network operations.
  • Manage VLANs, subnets, IPAM, and internal DNS
  • Administer and troubleshoot load balancing solutions (MetalLB)
  • Implement and maintain network policies and micro segmentation for container workloads
  • Collaborate with network teams on firewall rules, network security groups, and perimeter connectivity
  • Administer Red Hat Enterprise Linux (RHEL) systems including patching, performance tuning, and troubleshooting
  • Maintain storage infrastructure including LVM, NFS, and iSCSI configurations
  • Write and maintain Bash and PowerShell scripts to automate routine tasks
  • Administer and maintain Red Hat OpenShift Container Platform (OCP) clusters in a hybrid Windows/Linux environment
  • Manage OpenShift Virtualization (OVN-Kubernetes) networking, including BGP configuration and troubleshooting to ensure container availability and proper routing
  • Deploy, configure, and maintain containerized workloads using Kubernetes-native patterns
  • Manage Operator Lifecycle Manager (OLM), Helm charts, and pod/container lifecycle across clusters
  • Oversee namespace management, RBAC policies, resource quotas, and service accounts
  • Support the organization's migration from traditional infrastructure to containerized workloads

Job description

The Infrastructure Engineer is responsible for the design, deployment, administration, and continuous improvement of the organization's hybrid infrastructure. Spanning Windows, Linux (Red Hat Enterprise Linux), and OpenShift container platforms. This role is central to the company's strategic shift toward containerized workloads and serves as the primary technical owner of the container networking stack, including BGP-based routing within the OpenShift virtualization environment. The ideal candidate combines deep networking expertise with hands‑on Linux and container platform administration skills, and thrives in a collaborative in‑house IT setting.

Key Responsibilities
  • Configure and maintain BGP routing within the OpenShift/OVN environment to ensure stable container network operations
  • Manage VLANs, subnets, IP address management (IPAM), and internal DNS
  • Administer and troubleshoot load balancing solutions (MetalLB)
  • Implement and maintain network policies and micro segmentation for container workloads

OpenShift & Container Platform
  • Administer and maintain Red Hat OpenShift Container Platform (OCP) clusters in a hybrid Windows/Linux environment
  • Manage OpenShift Virtualization (OVN-Kubernetes) networking, including BGP configuration and troubleshooting to ensure container availability and proper routing
  • Deploy, configure, and maintain containerized workloads using Kubernetes-native patterns
  • Manage Operator Lifecycle Manager (OLM), Helm charts, and pod/container lifecycle across clusters

Automation (a plus, not required)
  • Exposure to Infrastructure as Code tools such as Ansible or Terraform is a plus
  • Familiarity with CI/CD pipelines (e.g., GitLab CI, Jenkins) or GitOps practices is a plus
  • Comfort working in Git for version control and documentation is a plus
Required Qualifications
  • 4-5+ years of experience in infrastructure engineering, systems administration, or a related role
  • Hands‑on experience with Red Hat OpenShift or Kubernetes cluster administration
  • Strong working knowledge of BGP and container networking (OVN-Kubernetes preferred)
  • Proficient in Red Hat Enterprise Linux (RHEL) administration
  • Experience with Windows Server and Active Directory in a hybrid environment
  • Hands‑on experience managing containerized workloads and pod lifecycle in Kubernetes/OpenShift
  • Solid understanding of networking fundamentals: TCP/IP, DNS, VLANs, load balancing, firewalls
  • Strong scripting skills in Bash; PowerShell a plus
Preferred Qualifications
  • Red Hat Certified Engineer (RHCE) or Red Hat Certified Specialist in OpenShift Administration
  • Certified Kubernetes Administrator (CKA) or equivalent
  • Exposure to DevOps practices Infrastructure as Code (Ansible, Terraform), CI/CD pipelines, or GitOps workflows is a plus, but not required
  • Experience supporting a containerization migration or modernization initiative
