Job summary

Convex is seeking an Engineering Manager to lead the Infra team responsible for the database, sync layer, and core primitives such as branching and analytics. You will stay hands-on and work with the CTO on critical architectural decisions, guiding engineers through challenging problems while shipping robust infrastructure.

You’ll help scale a startup in SF, enabling high reliability and performance across Convex’s global cloud platform.

Qualifications

• Deep background in distributed systems and infrastructure
• Experience growing engineers and building strong teams
• Ability to align an engineering org with CTO priorities
• Proven track record of shipping reliable, scalable systems

Responsibilities

• Manage and grow the Infra team, giving engineers real ownership of hard problems
• Work closely with our CTO to align the team on priorities and ensure timely delivery
• Stay hands-on technically, contributing to architecture decisions and code reviews
• Design, build, and maintain Convex’s global cloud infrastructure
• Investigate and improve performance and reliability of systems
• Help establish technical direction and engineering standards as Convex grows
• Provide constructive feedback and navigate tough conversations when needed
