Information Technology Support Technician (Part time)

The mission of Northwest Arkansas Children’s Shelter is to provide a safe haven, high quality care, and hope for the future to children impacted by trauma.

ABOUT THE ORGANIZATION:

Established in 1993, NWACS is a private, non-profit organization. Our 32-bed, state-of-the-art residential Shelter provides 24-hour emergency care for children throughout Arkansas who are victims of abandonment, abuse or neglect. Building on three decades of experience working with children and trauma, in 2020 our work expanded with the opening of Hope Academy, the first trauma-centered open enrollment charter school in the state of Arkansas. Our work centers around positive trauma-informed practices and takes a comprehensive, whole child approach to care and education; creating a stable, safe and loving environment in which the hundreds of children who walk through our doors each year can begin to heal.

THE POSITION:

We are seeking a dedicated Information Technology (IT) Support Technician to manage and support the organization’s technology needs. This role will be responsible for troubleshooting IT issues, setting up and maintaining employee workstations, managing system access, and ensuring seamless operation of critical software and hardware. The ideal candidate is organized, proactive, and capable of working across departments to optimize IT operations.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide daily IT support and troubleshooting for hardware, software, and network issues.
  • Manage company-wide technology systems, including Active Directory administration.
  • Set up, configure, and maintain employee workstations, email accounts, and shared drives.
  • Train employees on internal IT systems and best practices.
  • Oversee maintenance and functionality of relay device systems.
  • Support and manage Microsoft Office Suite applications.
  • Assist in data analytics and reporting needs for operational improvements.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve issues related to Paycom and Raptor software.
  • Maintain and support the organization’s phone system.
  • Document IT procedures and maintain an up-to-date knowledge base.
  • Maintain inventory of all technical devices on site.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Departments Supported:

  • Operations Department: Ensure smooth technological operations and infrastructure management.
  • Human Resources: Manage employee IT onboarding/offboarding, training, and system access.
  • Youth Care Staff: Provide IT troubleshooting, data analytics, and software support.
  • Administrative Team: Maintain office-wide IT functionality and communication systems.
Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Experience:
    • Proven experience in IT support, help desk, or related technical role.
    • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, Active Directory, and cloud-based document management systems.
    • Experience with Sophos, Windows, and Altero.
  • Skills and Abilities:
    • Strong troubleshooting skills with hardware, software, and network infrastructure.
    • Excellent communication skills and ability to train non-technical staff.
    • Ability to work independently and manage multiple priorities effectively.

Working Conditions and Environment/Physical Demands

The demands described are representative of those that must be met by an individual to successfully perform the essential functions of this position.

  • Tasks may involve walking, standing, climbing, bending, kneeling, crouching, and lifting for long periods of time.
  • Ability to lift up to 50 pounds.
  • Must pass all criminal history and child maltreatment background checks.
  • Must submit to pre-employment a drug screen as well as random drug screens when directed.
  • Valid driver's license, proof of personal automobile insurance, and acceptable driving record required to drive shelter vehicles for shelter business.
  • Must maintain confidentiality and privacy regarding all Children’s Shelter residents' information in accordance with NWACS policy and all applicable Federal and state laws/regulations.
  • Attend and participate in mandatory training, staff meetings, and all other events, as required.
  • Set, maintain, and communicate appropriate personal and professional boundaries.
  • Complete all required documentation in a timely manner per NWACS procedures.
