Job summary

Merck & Co. is seeking an IT analyst to configure and support Production Scheduling and related HR systems across our global workforce.

You will analyze processes, troubleshoot scheduling configurations, and collaborate with vendors to deliver reliable solutions that align with business needs. You will partner with HR and IT teams to gather requirements, translate them into technical specifications, ensure system health, and drive initiatives from discovery through testing and stabilisation.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in CIS or MIS preferred.
• 3+ years of related experience delivering complex IT solutions; 5+ preferred.
• Experience configuring, supporting Time and Attendance and Scheduling applications.
• Understanding integrations between Time and Attendance/schedule software.
• Ability to work with contractors and 3rd party vendors to ensure quality results.
• Gather and translate business requirements into technical specifications.
• Experience supporting stabilization and ongoing production support of technical solutions.
• Able to work independently and in a collaborative team environment; handle ambiguity.
• Infor WFM experience and Indeavor/Shiftboard familiarity preferred.

Responsibilities

• Analyst resource for global HR system processes, data and technology projects focused on plant shift scheduling.
• Day-to-day operational support of HR systems and ensure system health and sustainability.
• Troubleshoot issues and identify solutions (scheduling configuration, integrations).
• Consult with business to identify process impacts on technology/data and constraints.
• Define functional requirements including data, configuration and integration needs; translate into specs.
• Prioritize requirements and identify opportunities to improve processes by leveraging functionality.
• Deliver initiatives through discovery, planning, implementation, testing and stabilization.
• Assure quality, create test scripts, perform testing and ensure user acceptance.
• Develop technical documentation supporting system or process changes.
• Communicate system/process changes to users with varying technical knowledge.
• Advocate HR solutions and stay informed on trends and technologies.

OVERVIEW:

This position is responsible for configuring and supporting Production Scheduling and other HR systems and processes that enhance user experience, support HR process and technology efforts and deliver value to our global workforce. This role is expected to demonstrate proficiency in system knowledge/configuration, problem solving, process/data analysis, and communication skills. You'll work collaboratively across teams to provide recommendations on aligning technical solutions to business opportunities.

KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES

• Analyst resource for global HR system processes, data and technology projects primarily focused on plant shift scheduling capabilities
• Day to day operational support of HR systems and ensure system health and sustainability
• Utilize Indeavor functional expertise to troubleshoot issues and identify solutions (scheduling configuration, integrations, etc.)
• Consultant for global HR systems, data, and processes - identify and articulate process impacts on technology/data and potential constraints
• Partner with business to define functional requirements - including data, configuration and integration needs - and translate into recommendations and technical specifications
• Partner with business to understand pain points, prioritize requirements, and identify opportunities to improve processes/gain efficiency by leveraging existing and new functionality
• Successfully deliver prioritized initiatives through discovery, planning, implementation, testing and stabilization
• Responsible for quality assurance, creation of test scripts, testing execution, and ensuring user acceptance for system solutions
• Develop technical documentation supporting system or processes changes
• Communicate system or process changes to users with varying technical knowledge
• Advocate and influence HR solutions and inform on new trends and technologies

QUALIFICATIONS

Required:

• Bachelor's degree in CIS (Computer Information Systems) or MIS (Management Information Systems) preferred
• Minimum years of related experience required: 3+ supporting/delivering complex IT solutions
• Preferred years of related experience: 5+ supporting/delivering complex IT solutions
• Experience configuring, solutioning and supporting Time and Attendance and Scheduling applications ( should we add few names here such as Indeavor or infor or....)
• Understanding of integrations between Time and Attendance/schedule software
• Ability to work with contractors and 3rd party vendors to ensure a quality result on projects and enhancements
• Ability to gather and translate business requirements into specifications
• Demonstrated ability to analyze, design, configure and support data, processes and technology
• Experience supporting stabilization and ongoing production support of technical solutions
• Demonstrated ability to work independently as well as in a collaborative team environment
• Be able to effectively work with ambiguity
• Ability to think critically, proactively, and manage multiple priorities

Preferred:
