California Department of Developmental Services is seeking an IT Supervisor II to lead the IT Helpdesk and Hardware Team at Porterville Developmental Center in Tulare County, CA. The role includes planning, organizing, and directing hardware deployment, asset tracking, and support for PCs and laptops, with collaboration on new projects alongside the IT Manager I and IT Specialist II’s.

POSITION DESCRIPTION: Under the general direction of the Information Technology (IT) Manager I, plans, organizes, and directs the work for the IT Helpdesk and Hardware team. The IT Supervisor II will work with the IT Specialist II’s to setup and distribute new hardware and software and implement new technology. The IT Supervisor II will work with the IT Manager I and the IT Specialist II’s to develop and implement new projects when needed. The IT Helpdesk and Hardware Team consist of one IT Specialist I, two IT Associates, and Student Assistants. This team oversees the function, repair, and replacement of the hardware connected to the network infrastructure, this includes PC’s, Laptops, and all associated hardware and software. They will also assist the IT infrastructure Team as needed. The hardware is divided into employee use hardware and infrastructure hardware which must be handled, set up, and tracked. The IT Helpdesk and Hardware Team will be responsible for maintaining the IT hardware of the Porterville Developmental Center and three STAR Homes in the Porterville/Springville area.
This position is not eligible for telework, this position is in person only.

Effective July 1, 2025, State employees are subject to a salary reduction of three (3) percent in exchange for five (5) hours per month of the Personal Leave.

TYPICAL PHYSICAL DEMANDS: Occasionally it is required to lift carry objects weighing up to 40 pounds and work on workstations , servers, or other computer devices, and help with data cable maintenance which requires pulling cable in crawl spaces and in other mechanical spaces.
