Under the general supervision of the Chief Engineer I, or in their absence, Correctional Plant Supervisor, the Stationary Engineer, performs a variety of skilled work in the operation, maintenance and repair of boiler, heating, air conditioning, ventilation, lighting, power, water, water treatment, and other mechanical systems normally found in a state hospital, institution, large office building, or complex of buildings. May supervise incarcerated workers and do other related work. As an IP supervisor you are required to follow institutional policy for monitoring the work and performance of incarcerated workers which includes responsibility for supervising, including count procedures. This position is responsible for performing the work with or without incarcerated workers or other staff.

Working Conditions

CCI is a Multi-level, Sensitive Needs Yard, facility consisting of three(3) facilities, encompassed within a campus style layout with varied terrain. Work in this location may require exposure to varied temperatures dependent upon the season. California Correctional Institution is in the Tehachapi Mountains approximately 325 miles south of Sacramento and approximately 120 miles north of Los Angeles.

-15 minute commute from Tehachapi City, 1 hour 15 minute commute from Lancaster/Palmdale and 1 hour commute from Bakersfield.

-Centrally located for destination/vacation spots: 4 hours to Las Vegas, 2 hours to Los Angeles, 5 to San Diego, 3 hours to the Central Coast and 2.25 hours to Wine Country in Paso Robles.

-Van/Car Pools may be available.
