If you're graduating this winter '26/spring'27, a recent graduate, or early-career professional seeking a high-impact career in government, NASIC awaits.

NASIC IT Specialists are hired as “developmental” employees, which means we’ll train a large portion of the skills you need to be successful!

It also means you’ll start at the entry level grade and receive annual promotions to the next salary as you become more skilled and meet performance requirements.

Think of our jobs as having levels, like rungs on a ladder. The higher the number, the more responsibility and experience you're expected to have, and generally, the higher the pay.

Here’s an example of the salary & grade progressions:

1 year - GG-2210-07 step 1 - $52,339

2 years - GG-2210-09 step 1 - $64,021

3 years - GG-2210-11 step 1 - $77,460

4 years - GG-2210-12 step 1 - $92,841

Where you’ll fall within the salary range above will depend upon the specific role you’re hired for. Some jobs require more specialized STEM skills, resulting in higher pay.

Government Job Series Explained:

Basically, a job series is just a way for the government to classify and organize jobs.

Don't get too hung up on the numbers. Focus on the specific skills and responsibilities outlined in the job description.

Just like different concentrations within a major, the numbers narrow down the specific type of work. So, even though two jobs are in the same series, the specific tasks might be different!

Resume Requirements:

The following information must be included in your resume. Failure to include may result in disqualification:

  • 2-page limit resume layout: https://help.usajobs.gov/faq/application/documents/resume/what-to-include
  • Resume must be attached and saved as a Word Document or PDF
  • Part-time positions must include hours worked per week and the dates of employment (i.e., month/year to month/year or month/year to present)
