Job summary

The City of Winchester seeks an experienced IT professional to provide direct technical assistance to Police Department staff and manage specialized technology. You will support, troubleshoot, and deploy police IT solutions, including in-vehicle systems and digital devices, while coordinating with City IT to maintain cybersecurity and enterprise standards.

Candidates should have a Bachelor’s degree in IT and at least seven years of IT support experience, including supervision.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Technology or IT.
• Seven (7) years of IT support with two years supervisory experience preferred.
• Desktop support, Windows/Microsoft environments, user accounts and mobile devices.
• Network support and technical customer support experience.

Responsibilities

• Provides direct technical assistance to sworn and civilian Police Department personnel.
• Provides technical support, coordination, maintenance, testing, and administration for Police Department technology.
• Assists with implementation, testing, deployment, and support of new Police Department technology.
• Supports technology installed in Police Department vehicles (computers, cameras, scanners, printers, communications equipment).
• Works with City IT to ensure Police Department technology complies with cybersecurity, network, and enterprise standards.

Job description

Duties and Responsibilities:

• Provides direct technical assistance to sworn and civilian Police Department personnel
• Provides technical support, coordination, maintenance, troubleshooting, and/or administration, as assigned, for specialized Police Department technology
• Assists with implementation, testing, deployment, and support of new Police Department technology
• Supports technology installed in Police Department vehicles, including computers, cameras, scanners, printers, communications equipment, and associated peripherals
• Works collaboratively with City IT to ensure Police Department technology complies with City cybersecurity, network, infrastructure, and enterprise technology standards

Education and/or Experience:

• Equivalent to a Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Technology, Information Technology, etc.
• Seven (7) years of IT support; 2 years supervision preferred

Experience should include:

• Desktop support, Microsoft Windows/365;
• Installation/troubleshooting, user accounts, mobile devices, network support,
• Technical customer support.

Preferred experience in:

• IT support in law enforcement, public safety, 24-hour environments.
• CAD, RMS, mobile data computers, body cameras, digital evidence, public safety systems.
• Microsoft Active Directory, Microsoft 365, mobile management, VPN, multi-factor auth.
• Vendor management, technology projects, industry certifications.

Certificates, Licenses, Registrations:

Valid driver’s license required.
