Job summary

Blue Mantis is looking for a skilled IT Operations Engineer to support enterprise data centers and ensure high availability of network infrastructure in the New York City area.

You will manage servers (Windows/Linux/Unix), cloud platforms (AWS/Azure/O365), VMware, and network devices, contribute to game-day operations, and uphold security and documentation standards in a fast-paced, mission-critical environment.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in computer science, information technology, or equivalent hands-on experience.
• Proven experience in enterprise data centers with Windows/Linux/Unix environments.
• Strong networking and cloud skills across AWS/Azure/O365 and virtualization.
• CCNA/CCNP and ITIL certifications preferred.

Responsibilities

• Server administration and maintenance across Windows, Linux, and Unix.
• Cloud operations including AWS, Azure, and O365; manage VMware-based workloads.
• Monitor systems with SolarWinds and DataDog; ensure reliability and SLAs.
• Incident management and security best practices for on-prem and cloud.
• Document topology maps, procedures, and runbooks.

Key Responsibilities

• Server Administration: Manage and maintain Windows, Linux, and Unix environments to ensure optimal performance.
• Cloud Operations: Administer cloud platforms including AWS, Azure, and O365 for enterprise workloads and containerization.
• Virtualization: Manage, configure, and troubleshoot VMware-based environments to ensure optimal performance, scalability, and availability of virtualized infrastructure.
• System Monitoring: Leverage platforms such as SolarWinds and DataDog to ensure network reliability and performance.
• Incident Management: Lead network-related incident resolution, ensuring SLAs are met and escalating issues when necessary.
• Security Best Practices: Implement and support secure networking solutions, ensuring robust protection in on-premise and cloud environments.
• Documentation: Create and maintain detailed network documentation, including topology maps and procedures for troubleshooting.

Skills, Knowledge and Expertise

Required Skills

• Strong experience Cisco Nexus/Arista/Meraki Switches, Cisco Wireless Controllers, Windows, Linux, and Unix environments using the ServiceNOW ticketing system.
• Strong experience in NOC operations with expertise in Windows, Linux, and Unix environments using the ServiceNOW ticketing system.
• Hands-on experience with cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, O365, VMware) and virtualization/containerization technologies.
• Backup and DR Support: Experience supporting and troubleshooting backup and disaster recovery solutions such as Rubrik and Zerto, ensuring data protection and system resilience.
• Hands-on experience with firewalls, routing protocols, and network monitoring tools like SolarWinds.
• Familiarity with automation tools and scripting
• Excellent problem-solving skills with the ability to adapt to dynamic priorities.

Preferred Skills

• Proficiency in scripting languages (Python, PowerShell, Bash) for automating server and cloud operations.
• Familiarity with cloud-based networking solutions in AWS, Azure, or O365 environments.
• Knowledge of infrastructure capacity planning and performance tuning.
• Knowledge of Kubernetes, Docker, and container orchestration for managing distributed applications.
• Familiarity with security best practices, SIEM platforms, and endpoint protection.
• Experience with advanced video streaming technologies and CDNs.
• Familiarity with infrastructure performance tuning and capacity planning.

Qualifications

• Provide game day support on major holidays when games are played.
• Education: Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or equivalent hands‑on experience.
• Certifications: CCNA, CCNP (or equivalent) ITIL and technical certifications in, servers and/ or cloud (preferred).
• Experience: Demonstrated expertise in a complex, multisite environment.

Base Salary Range: $120,000.00 - $165,000.00

However, individual salaries are determined by a variety of factors including, but not limited to: business considerations, local market conditions, and internal equity, as well as candidate qualifications, such as skills, education, and experience.
