Job description

The IT Manager leads the day-to-day operation, security, and advancement of the organization's technology environment across corporate and property locations. Operating as a senior individual contributor, this role combines deep hands-on technical ownership with strategic leadership — running the Microsoft 365 and endpoint ecosystem, safeguarding the organization against cyber threats, and modernizing how the business works through automation and artificial intelligence. The IT Manager is the go-to technology expert for the organization, partnering with the Director of Technology, business leaders, and vendors to deliver a secure, reliable, and forward-looking digital workplace.

Duties
Technology Operations & Digital Workplace
  • Own and administer the Microsoft 365 environment, including Exchange Online, Teams, SharePoint, and OneDrive, ensuring a secure and productive workplace across Windows, macOS, and mobile platforms.
  • Manage the full device lifecycle using Microsoft Intune, Autopilot, Apple Business Manager, and Datto RMM — from provisioning, configuration, and shipping of new-hire equipment through retirement.
  • Administer identity and access management through Entra ID, enforcing Conditional Access, MFA, and device compliance policies.
  • Handle user provisioning, group management, and licensing across Microsoft 365 and third-party SaaS platforms.
  • Manage employee onboarding and offboarding, including account setup, device configuration, and access control.
  • Support collaboration technologies such as video conferencing, Teams Rooms, and meeting-room hardware.
  • Maintain hardware and software inventory, asset lifecycle, and clear documentation of system configurations, procedures, and user instructions.
End-User Support
  • Provide end-user support through FreshService, resolving device, application, and connectivity issues while adhering to defined SLAs and escalation protocols.
Cybersecurity & Compliance
  • Lead cybersecurity operations across the organization, monitoring and responding to threats using Darktrace, Microsoft Defender, and Barracuda.
  • Drive security awareness and phishing-resistance through KnowBe4 training programs.
  • Ensure compliance with security, access, and data-handling standards, and participate in audits and remediation.
  • Identify, evaluate, and implement AI and automation solutions that streamline IT operations, strengthen security, and reduce manual, repetitive work.
  • Apply artificial intelligence to enhance threat detection, support delivery, and business processes, and champion responsible AI adoption across the organization. Projects, Vendors & Strategy
  • Lead IT projects end to end, including software implementations, system migrations, infrastructure modernization, and technology deployments for new and acquired properties.
  • Serve as the primary liaison for technology vendors and service providers, managing licensing, contracts, and performance.
  • Assist in developing and managing IT budgets and technology purchasing decisions.
  • Support property-critical platforms including property management systems, resident portals, access control, surveillance, and VoIP.
  • Partner with the Director of Technology to shape and execute strategic technology initiatives, and provide flexible support across systems, operations, and cross-functional needs.
Work Experience
  • 5+ years of progressive IT experience in support or systems administration, ideally within a multifamily, property management, or corporate environment.
  • Hands-on expertise with Microsoft 365, Intune, Autopilot, and endpoint management required.
  • Experience with cloud-first environments and modern identity/security tools (Entra ID, Conditional Access) required.
  • Demonstrated experience leading technology projects and managing vendor relationships.
  • Experience applying AI and automation to improve IT operations or business processes strongly preferred.
Skills
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, both internally and externally, with the ability to translate technical concepts for non-technical audiences.
  • Strong problem-solving, organizational, and independent decision-making skills.
  • Able to be discreet with confidential and sensitive information.
  • Able to work independently, take initiative, and adapt to changing priorities.
  • Able to manage multiple priorities with accuracy and efficiency while meeting deadlines.
  • Detail-oriented with a strong work ethic and a high degree of accountability and ownership.
  • Proficiency in budgeting, forecasting, and the strategic use of technology platforms.
  • Excellent understanding of computer systems, security, networks, systems administration, databases, and telecommunications.
  • Extensive software knowledge and a forward-thinking, innovation-driven mindset toward AI and emerging technology.
Licenses and Certifications:
  • Foundation, CompTIA Security+, CISSP, and PMP or equivalent.
Physical Requirements:
  • Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
  • Stand, walk, and climb stairs.
  • Ability to hear and see as needed in a general work environment.
  • Able to receive information through verbal and written sources.
